Submission from the public:
“The Cooper Union President and Board of Trustees are weighing a devastating about-face on the Institution’s 100-year legacy of tuition-free education. Its new president and the Board of Trustees believe that the only way to solve the Institution’s financial challenges is by implementing a tuition model. The current deficit is placed at 16.5 million dollars annually, although that number fluctuates depending on how you approximate the debt. A community of concerned alumni, students, faculty and friends have been doing our best to try to convince the Board (as well as the press and those outside of the community) that Cooper Union’s promise of merit-based, tuition-free education must be protected and preserved. How can we bring the public on our side and most effectively lobby the administration to defend Cooper Union’s legacy?”
